ELEVATE HEALTH Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine

Recharge Your Ability to Heal

Through mild stimulation of the nervous system, acupuncture can produce a wide-ranging reset of the body’s inherent healing systems. In this way, acupuncture reduces pain, modulates immunity, balances functioning, calms and energizes.

Try Acupuncture

Acupuncture can be used alone or in combination with high-quality herbal formulas and supplements to effectively provide:

  • Pain reduction and accelerated healing of injuries and strains, including sports and motor vehicle accidents.
  • Reduction in pain related to headaches, migraines, arthritis and post surgery.
  • Immune support, reducing frequent infections and relieving allergies, sinusitis and certain lung conditions.
  • Adjunctive care for cancer therapies, Multiple Sclerosis and other autoimmune conditions and chronic pain.
  • Reduced stress and anxiety.
  • Improved sleep.
  • Adjunctive care for smoking cessation and substance abuse
  • Relief from menstrual problems and menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes.

Regular Treatment Helps

Depending on the condition being treated, acupuncture usually involves a series of two to ten treatments. Following this, a regular treatment every few weeks is usually very helpful in chronic conditions. Tune-up treatments several times a year can also be valuable.

Acupuncture FAQ

Can I receive acupuncture without a membership?

Yes! Though there can be great synergistic benefit to "coordinated care" amongst the practitioners at Elevate Health, you can choose to see Thomas Martin independent of the membership plan. Contact Elevate Health to set up an acupuncture appointment.

What does an acupuncture treatment feel like?

There may be a slight pinch or mild soreness as the needle passes through the skin. Often however there is little or no feeling due to the extreme fineness of the needles.

Various indications of the acupoint being activated may occur at the needle site, or elsewhere in the body, even in areas not directly connected to the nerve being stimulated. Some possible experiences are feelings of warmth, heaviness, temporary numbness, a brief twinge, ache or electric sensation, as well as numerous subtle sensations.

If soreness does occur, it is fleeting in duration and most people easily accommodate the brief discomfort that may arise. A small number of people can be especially sensitive to this procedure, and in their case fewer and finer needles with less stimulation are used.

Thomas is skilled at accommodating individual sensitivity while obtaining enough acupoint stimulus for the best treatment outcome. For most people acupuncture treatment is a pleasantly positive experience.

Are results temporary?

Long-lasting effects depend on the overall health of the person being treated and the healing potential of their condition. One study showed improvements after a series of acupuncture treatments to last the length of the study - at least 3 years.

After reviewing your health history and noting response to one or two treatments Thomas can clarify this question for you.

How long does a treatment last?

An acupuncture treatment usually takes 10 to 20 minutes, during which time the patient rests on a comfortable treatment table. Many people experience deep relaxation during this time.

What is integrative acupuncture?

Integrative acupuncture is a contemporary evidence-based treatment uniquely suited to modern integrative medicine. It utilizes the language and clear understanding of modern medicine, and is simple, effective and easily understood by all providers. It is continually updated by research and clinical experience of practitioners worldwide.
