Dahra Perkins, MD, ABFM, ABIHM
Assisting patients in achieving vibrant health.
Dahra Perkins, MD, ABFM, ABIHM is board certified in family medicine, integrative and holistic medicine, and trained in functional medicine. This gives her an extensive toolkit, and an ability to meet each patient’s unique needs and preferences. She sees a wide variety of people; from newborns to the elderly, women and men, from generally healthy people who want to maximize their potential to people with complex, chronic diseases.
Partnership with patients
She works in partnership with her patients, educating and assisting them in achieving vibrant health. She draws from a wide range of resources and believes in the value of rigorous scientific inquiry, state of the art diagnostic testing as well as the wisdom of ancient healing traditions and a person's own intuition.
Dahra's Approach to Healing
Dahra's approach to healing is to assist each person in addressing the obstacles to their vitality rather than just treating isolated symptoms. While this often means lifestyle changes with gradual results over time, she does recognize the value and appropriateness at times of acute treatment of symptoms. She welcomes coordinating and collaborating care with a patient's other health practitioners.
Time to Listen
Because she believes that each person's healing journey is unique to them, and that the basis of her value to her patients is the relationship she creates with them, she has structured her practice to allow for enough time to listen to and get to know her patients.
Dr. Perkins was born in Santa Monica, CA. She has lived in Portland, OR since 2005 when she moved here with her then 14-year-old daughter Zoe. She enjoys bicycling -including commuting to work- dancing, outdoor adventures, traveling, scuba diving, cooking delicious things, making and fixing things - such as woodworking, knitting, and car repair- playing dress up with wigs and costumes, and spending time with family and friends.
